My Dad's Retirement - 31/01/2011

Hi All,

This time I thought, Rather than my feelings and thoughts I should reflect here the words directly from me... and I thought the apt occasion to start with would be My Dad's retirement - 31/1/2011. Firstly I have to accept a fact that, I never thought the Occasion would be such a success and my Dad had such a great respect among his colleagues and society. There was a Function arranged at his office, and we were actually lucky to have some of our relatives who made it for the occasion.

Many of Dad's superiors as well as reportees spoke so great about my Dad and it gave me a great boost to speak out my mind about my Dad in front of that gathering. Here are the words direct from my heart and mouth...

Good evening to all..

You all might very well know that we are 2 children for our father Mr. Madireddi Venkatadri Garu, or if you don’t know you can easily recognize us by the similarities in our shape & appearances. (My brother interrupted and said “Shape is not his fault) everyone laughs.

A simple example of my dad’s sincerity and dedication, we never knew our native place which is said to be Kirlampudi near Kakinada. I remember when I was very small kid we went there only once when my Great grandmother was alive. Dad came he to Srisailam Project in 1978, got married in 1981, I was born in 1983 & brother in 1985. And today (2011) we are here as you all can see. So, for me if anyone asks about my native place then I will definitely say its Srisailam Project.

Regarding my mom Mrs. M Geethavani Garu, I think you know her well as Hindi teacher and she recently also got retired after 18 years of service. One more quality of my father, he will never go against rules and I has seen the struggle he faced every time I came here to my parents in holidays. It’s not only me but everyone here knows the problems one has to face for being upfront on rules.

Earlier, while studying I never even thought how dad was managing everything my engineering fees which was Rs. 45000/- per year etc., luckily my brother saved on my dad’s pocket by getting a free engineering seat (Rs. 8000/- per year).

One thing I wanted to reiterate here is whatever we are today, it’s only because of our Father. Thanks Dad for everything. And for our parents till now we did nothing great, but we as children of our parents promise today that we will do all that we are supposed to in your Respect & Love.

Regarding my relatives, who are present here I wanted to thank everyone for being here on this occasion, which with you presence has become special for us. I don’t want to thank them actually as they are my family and there is no need for formalities in a family. It’s just to let the others know that they are also here on this occasion.

Lastly I request everyone present here, even though retired kindly extend your cooperation to our father in all the ways he might require.

Thanking one and all…

It was truly an emotional moment for me, and Today after almost 2 months I tried remembering that day 31/01/2011 and share with you.
